First visit

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes. All visits to the atelier are by appointment only. The atelier is located in downtown Setúbal.

Book your appointment here.

What happens at the first visit?

We start by understanding what you are looking for, the context of your wedding and how you want to feel. We explore references, silhouettes, materials and AMENA pieces. Only then do we move to the fitting room and try on the pieces available at the atelier.

Do I need to know which dress I want?

No. The first visit is precisely to help you find a direction. We try different shapes and combinations to see what works best for you.

Should I bring references?

You can. References help us better understand your taste and what you identify with. However, we do not reproduce dresses by other brands or designers.

Can I bring guests to the first visit?

Yes, up to 3 guests.

Process

How far in advance should I start?

We recommend starting the process 6 to 9 months before the wedding. Your place in the atelier's schedule is reserved once the proposal is approved and the first instalment for the dress is paid.

When does production start?

Production is planned according to your wedding date and the atelier's availability. We usually take your measurements and begin building the base pattern around 3 to 4 months before the wedding, reducing the impact of possible body changes in the preceding months.

How many fittings will I have?

We usually hold four fittings, followed by the final delivery of the dress.

When will I receive the quote?

After the first visit, we send you our digital fabric catalogue so you can review any materials or personalisations still to be decided. Once all the details are defined, we send you the final proposal for the dress and the corresponding quote.

When is my order confirmed?

When the proposal is approved and the first 50% instalment is paid. Only then is your place reserved in the atelier's schedule.

Can I change the dress after confirming my order?

Small adjustments can be made during the process. Changes to the design, materials or construction may require a revision of the price and timeline.

When will my dress be ready?

The delivery date is set according to your wedding date and agreed during the ordering process.

Prices and payments

How much does an AMENA dress cost?

The AMENA Essentials and the models from our other collections have base prices shown on the website. The final price varies depending on the materials, personalisations and alterations chosen.

Is the price on the website the final price?

It is the base price of the model shown. The final quote depends on the materials and personalisations chosen or, in the case of an exclusive design, on the project developed by AMENA.

How does payment work?

Payment is split into three instalments: 50% to confirm your order and reserve your place in the atelier's schedule, 30% when production begins and the remaining 20% on the day the dress is delivered.

Personalisation

Are all dresses made to measure?

Yes. Every dress is made individually to each bride's measurements.

Do you make personalised dresses?

We can start from an AMENA Essentials model, from another collection model, or develop an exclusive design with you. From there, we work on fabrics, necklines, sleeves, proportions, details and other elements so that the dress reflects who you are.

I want a modular dress. Do you make separate pieces that can be combined?

Yes. Skirts, tops, bodices, sleeves, capes and other elements can be combined when they are compatible with each other. We also create detachable and removable pieces that let you transform your look throughout the day.

Can I personalise my dress with a fabric of my choice?

Yes. At the atelier we have a selection of base fabrics and a catalogue of laces and other materials suited to our designs. After the first visit, we can also send you our digital catalogue so you can review the options and take your time deciding.

Do you make custom lace or embroidery?

Yes. We can develop custom lace, embroidery or other personalised details, subject to a quote.

Can you copy a dress I saw from another brand?

No. You are welcome to bring references to help us understand your taste, but we do not reproduce designs by other brands or designers.

Orders and international clients

Can I order just a cape, veil, sleeve or top?

Yes. Some pieces can be purchased directly online, with no fitting required. Others require specific measurements or personalisation. In that case, contact us with the piece you are interested in and we will confirm the process.

Can I have an AMENA dress made if I live outside Portugal?

Yes, as long as you are able to travel to the atelier for the necessary fittings.

How many times do I need to come to the atelier?

We usually hold four fittings and the final delivery. For international clients, we try to combine some of the fittings whenever the process allows.

Can I order a dress entirely online?

No. Made-to-measure dresses require in-person fittings at the atelier.

Do you ship internationally?

No. At the moment, we only ship within Portugal.

Returns, alterations and after the wedding

Can I return my dress?

No. Dresses are made individually and to measure, so they cannot be returned.

Can I return a cape, veil or accessory?

Yes, only for items that are not made to measure and have no personalisation. Made-to-measure or personalised pieces cannot be returned. See the full terms in our Returns & Refunds Policy.

Can I cancel my order?

You can cancel your order, but any amounts already paid are non-refundable.

Do you alter dresses from other brands?

No. We only work on AMENA pieces.

Do you make guest or bridesmaid dresses?

No. AMENA is dedicated exclusively to bridal.

Can I transform my dress after the wedding?

Yes, when the dress's construction allows it. We can look at shortening the length, removing elements, separating pieces or simplifying the dress so it is easier to wear again.

If you would like to reuse or transform your dress after the wedding, we recommend letting us know when you place your order, so we can take this into account during development.

Some detachable pieces are also designed to be worn again after the wedding.
